Gourmet Dining
Gourmet Cuisine - Fiji Islands
Should tonight include a romantic candlelight dinner for two on the jetty or a gourmet dinner of lively conversation shared with other guests in the dining bure?
Wherever you choose to dine, Lalati's talented chef and his kitchen staff will tempt your taste buds with a mixture of delicious, high quality, imported gourmet products and local Fijian fruits, vegetables, fish and spices.
Gourmet food is what sets Lalati apart from the many other resorts in Fiji.
Served in our lofty, chiefly-styled open-aired Main Bure, around a shared or intimate table.
Lalati’s Pacific Rim Cuisine is an eclectic blend of seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, imported meats and decadent desserts, all of which are served using the freshest of ingredients, with a touch of tropical gourmet flair and the warm bula smile.
Skillfully and artfully-prepared and presented by our Fijian chef Beato and his talented staff, lunches might include Pesto Chicken pizza from our brick pizza oven, Fish Tacos with fresh Roti, or Soba Noodles with fresh Wahoo.
Gourmet Evening Meals
Dinners range from Seared Ahi Tuna with Wasabi Sauce to New Zealand Rack of Lamb or Tuna with Lemon-Butter Sauce.
What better way to end such extravagancy but to indulge in irresistibly, mouth-watering deserts like chocolate tower, creme caramel and decadent chocolate soufflé or homemade coconut ice creams?
Lunches and dinners are normally a set menu, but Lalati' Resort's friendly staff are only too happy to accommodate vegetarian or special dietary requests.
If you have something special on your mind, then please do not hesitate to ask for some palette pampering.
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfasts are a buffet selection of fresh fruit juices, muffins, pastries, fresh fruits, coffee and tea.
A cooked breakfast is available at your request. The menu changes daily. Be sure to try the pancakes!
Lunch at Lalati Resort features lighter fare, such as pizzas fresh from the wood-fired oven, fish tacos, salads or chicken breast in a sweet marinara sauce served cold on freshly cooked pasta.
Special Meals
Going to Nanuku Island for a day of secluded romantic beach combing and swimming? The staff will pack a gourmet picnic lunch, snacks and drinks to take along.
A Lovo Feast! Lovo Night is a special treat! This feast is cooked in a Fijian Lovo, an underground oven in which an entire meal is cooked over hot rocks.
Meats, fish and vegetables are prepared early. You can watch the entire process or just come to the Lovo oven for photos at dusk when its time to remove the slowly-cooked meal. You will get to try the roots of cassava (tapioca), kumala (sweet potato), yam and dolo (taro), plus a selection of fish, chicken and pork, all individually wrapped for the lovo.
Before this meal, share some "yagona", Fijian Kava, while you enjoy the sounds of the local musicians.
This meal from the lovo oven is taken in the Fijian style with diners sitting around a tapa cloth laid out under the stars, or in case of rain on the dining bure floor.
An appetizer of Kokoda, fish marinated in coconut creme and lime juice, is a fitting, and very tasty appetizer for this mouth-watering meal.
Lovo is the traditional way of preparing feasts for ceremonies and special occasions in Fiji. Lalati's Lovo Night is one meal that will start you planning your next visit to Lalati.
Lalati Resort & Spa's chef, Beato, is renowned for his gourmet island cuisine. Whether its Ahi Tuna with a Wasabi sauce or the traditional Fijian Lovo night, your taste buds will begin to tingle each time Lalati's staff rhythmically pounds the Lali drum to announce the next meal.
